Re: What do I have? Seeking info from the gurus!

More than likely an error on Ruger's part with the factory letter.
The Round loading gate came about in March 1957... at approximately 62000.
What other components does your gun have? I also see a thick trigger which is also on par with a later made gun circa 100,000.

Re: OM Bearcat SN

I know of a 6-1/2" Super Blackhawk that has a number struck over the last digit of its serial number, 25591/0 As I understand it, the last wheel of the serial numbering head needed to be rotated by hand with each gun that was serial numbered, and the 2nd from last wheel after every ten guns, etc. So...

Thank you Carl. I just heard from a reliable source that is Steve Vogel with the hat on. That was by 1st thought but I just could not vision Steve dressed like that. Now for the short guy next to Ruger???
Now that you mention it... that does resemble Steve, very much so.

Re: Gorilla Killa

From what I have read about that, there was a little bit of complaining even then about the ad. Yes, there was! The editor of the American Rifleman (Walter Howe) gave a scathing letter to WBR about the advertisement. WBR wrote back and was for the most part oblivious to the public outcry. Then Howe...

Re: Names??

Just throwing this out there, as I am unsure... but wonder if #3 is Pete Brown?
Lee Newton has a pic of a New Hampshire get together with 10-12 of the "who's who" of the gun industry. Wonder if at least #3 can be spotted in that pic?

Re: Ruger’s new Marlin 1895

Looks like Ruger's serial numbering starts with "RM000", and of course they have a Mayodan barrel address.
The last of the Remington Marlins have MR serial numbers.

Re: Ruger M77 6.5 Rem mag

That gun should not have a hollowbolt. Hollowbolts are known only on the long action. The 6.5 is a short action. But never say never... might be a unicorn there. With the way Ruger does R&D, why wouldn't they have made a few short action bolts with hollow bolt handle? Since that bolt is cast as one ...

Re: Names??

That is Ed Nolan on the far right.
The guy on the far left is very familiar with that handlebar mustache but can't think of his name at the moment.
