I got my latest ROCS Journal the other day. (Excellent as usual)!
But I was sorely saddened by the discovery that Jim Schafer had passed away. I hadn't heard of his passing. Jim was truly a gentleman & we'll miss him.
Thoughts & prayers out to his family.

Re: Working on the SA's
I forgot to add that I have since modified 92) of the grip frame screws a little. I chucked them in my lathe, and cut back the hex sides a little further. I found the screw shanks could possibly rub the trigger guard on a few of them. So I cut the hex edges back a bit & rounded them a little too.

Working on the SA's
When we get to tinkering with our Ruger SA handguns,, we often have to disassemble & re-assemble them often. Long ago, I found a set of "tools" to make this super easy. A recent post elsewhere caused me to post the info there. I figured I'd share it here. If you are discussing the asse...

Re: Single Six grips
A call to Ruger can get you as many grip locator pins as necessary.

Re: Single Six grips
No problem helping. It's also possible someone wallowed out the hole to get them to fit a different grip frame at some point. OR,,,,,,,, I have on a rare occasion,, seen a gun WITHOUT the grip locator pin installed. Usually because someone cannibalized that pin for a different g/f. Just add a pin. P...

I stand corrected, not a long frame. As such,, the period correct Super Blackhawk grips can be swapped to give you a better looking set.
RadicalRod is correct in his info on the grips & the "C" stamping.

Re: Single Six grips
DON'T OVERTIGHTEN WOOD GRIPS!!!!!!!!! This is how they break from the inside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's possible someone replaced the grips. You can find a better fitting set. Or you can check the grip locator pin & hole. Some folks have filled in the hole,, then re-drilled it to fit better. Oh,,...

Re: Found something I have only heard about. But it breaks my heart.
A good one to find for sure. It appears to be a "long frame" (not 100% sure,) so yes,, a better looking set of grips would be a hard thing to find. And as noted above,, storing them in those boxes is NOT a good idea. Now,, if it's a regular grip frame,, you can have an easier time getting ...

Re: Bisley Flattop Frame sizes
If you are talking about the size of the grip frame,, both are identical. If you are talking about the main frame,, I'm not sure. Bisley refers to the grip type.
