Guns produced prior to 1969 did not have a dash in their serial number so the serial number would be an exact match across the different models. I do not have the good fortune of having an example to share but I'm sure someone will pop up with a photo of an example.

265 is the serial number. Each model has its own 265 serial number and the chase for matching serial numbers across models has been known to drive collectors insane, or at least into the poor house.......

Working on my next display and would love to find a cast 357 flattop and Super frame. I have the 44 flattop, single six, and alloy Bearcat as well as one of the plastic single six molds but it's just not complete without the other two. If anyone has an as cast XR3 frame I would also be interested in...
