Weeeeeellll. I found it! And yes, it is now mine, tell ya why. Serial number is 600-16306. Eight (8) numbers from the last one (600-16314) It also has the new "SRM" rollmark on the frame and finally it belonged to legendary shooter/lawman, Joe Bowman. Roll marked 6/19/84 shipped in 1984 6/...

I have a 'Few" Maxi's that sat at the factory for 20+ years before they shipped.........wish I knew the exact answer also....have some speculation on some, but not all.......

1) gun was stolen, original number ground off, ATF issues new serial number. 2) gun could have been the proverbial "lunch box" special and someone finally wanted to make it legal. Those are my best guesses.......someone will think of some other possible scenario's.......
