What's up with RCA?

Post by outta_ammo »

I'm new here so forgive me for not knowing the backstory, but what's up with RCA, and is there any relationship/overlap/common thread between the two organizations.RCA is older (that may be the answer), but ROCS is more active—although not nearly as active as the Smith & Wesson Collectors Association forum of which I am also a member. The RCA site has had the same "transitioning to a new technology" message for over a year.

Having spent most of my working life in technology it just doesn't take that long to transition unless the populous is unable or unwilling to adapt, or they made a horrible platform selection.

Thanks for bringing me up to speed on what is undoubtedly an ancient subject.

Cheers,
Alden

Alden, the RCA has suffered a heavy decline in what it offered years ago. ROCS is taking their turn carrying the torch for the Ruger Collectors and in my opinion doing a great job.

Are they still a functioning organization? Do they still put out the journals?

Yes, they still put out journals, but not sure how often.
The last time I spoke with John Dougan he said he was working on an RSSE article for the RCA Journal.

They mailed out a Journal a couple of weeks ago and it is really a great issue.

Bill and Chad,

That's good to know. I have thought about joining in the past but after looking at their website it didn't seem to be very active.

I guess the website would be the best way to join.

I recently received a great Journal. I feel like I'm getting my $30.00s worth.

I agree that the journal is worth the money.
But I have tried over and over to get a response from them about not being able to access the website every since they changed it. Not one word from them!!
The owner goes' by Lope on Gun Broker, any emails on one of his guns and you get a response quick... It is what it is I guess!
