KP94DLW

Post by Rob »

I was on another Ruger site and someone that replied to my post listed this site on the bottom of their reply and so I thought I would check it out. This site seems to favor collectors and I thought you could better help me.

I have a KP94DLW. I bought this gun new and I have fired less than one box of ammo through it. I have been told it was a rare model made only in 1994. The gun looks brand new. It has been in the original box. It is 9mm with a decocker and a factory laser built into the frame. I was wondering if you could give me any additional information about the gun and its approximate value. Thanks.

Ruger just auctioned one off from their collection and it sold for $1500. I have seen others for sale that have not sold for between $800 and $1200. I am not an expert, just sharing what I have seen.

Only 1,836 laser sighted P94 and KP94's were made, in 9 different models. Although yours was the most common of the models produced, there were still only 751 made. Some were also produced with Ruger's "REM" finish.
As it turned out, if a person left the battery for the laser in the gun, the TacStar laser would go kaput. Davidson's had a buyback for those that quit working, so there might not be too many around any more, at least that have lasers that are in working condition.

Chet15,

I have a P94 with the laser built in the frame. I saw one at a gun show several years ago and kicked myself for not buying it,
SO...I got one on GB recently.
I had no idea there were 9 different models.
How do I identify which model I have?
The books I have don't even mention it.
It would be fun to learn more about it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
JAY

Jay:
If you are still out there, I apologize for missing your question.
For the laser P94's there were blue and stainless models, pistols with standard grips or with Ruger's tactical grip, and guns with or without night sights...any combination thereof.

Chet,
Yep....I'm still here!
You were very specific with the original post on this model.
Where can I get that info, so I can narrow down what I have??
I am one of those "if this gun could talk" guys. I want to know as
much as possible about what I have in the safes.
Don't much care about resale value, just want to know.
Photo attached.
Cheers,
JAY

Here's the info from the "Reference of Ruger Firearms" which I publish...

Laser sighted P94's and KP94's. Known s/n's and s/n ranges 308-56636 to 308-57241 (PP94DL); 308-56574 to 308-57311 (PP94DAOL); 308-26599 to 308-27014 (KP94L); 308-07045 to 308-57520 (KP94DL) and 308-07018 to 308-27063 (KP94DAOL). Model quantities produced: PP94DL = 208; PP94DAOL = 120; PP94NDL = 24; KP94DL = 751; KP94DAOL = 225; KPP94DL = 66; KPP94NDL = 12; KPP94DAOL = 1 and KPP94NDL = 1. Only 1,836 laser sighted P94's and KP-94's were produced including the "U" marked models listed below. Note that some of the laser sighted stainless KP94’s have Ruger’s Rem-Coat finish receiver (known s/n’s 308-26971, a KP94DL and 308-57436, a KP94DOAL). The final stock of 297 pistols were shipped through normal distribution channels by June 1997. All models are rare.

DAO = Double Action Only
D = Decocker
N = Night sights
PP = blue with tactical grip
KPP = stainless with tactical grip
The gun in the pic has normal grips.

Chet,
Thank you for this information.

I would like to purchase your book.
Do you have some to sell, or do I need
"google" up a copy?
