Have a lettered 72 brass frame BH 45 colt 4 5/8" 3 screw. Ruger refuses or can't tell me how many were made of that specific model. I have been told 405 or 407. Also a self admitted non ruger expert said front sight looks non standard. Any infor appreciated. Thanks

Looks like 405 is the official number for the 4-5/8" length, BKH-44B

THATS what i wanted to know. thanks. someone on another site said a Dougan (?) book on old rugers that it was made with a 7" bbl.,as per that serial #45-19819 and to get the letter from ruger as it would say bbl length. it doesn't.

The brass frame 45s listed in Dougan's book are mislabeled/reversed. The serial numbers shown as 7-1/2" are the 4-5/8" guns. Your serial number on the list shows it as a 4-5/8" . What does your factory letter say? Does it say BKH44-B? If so that is the 4-5/8" barrel.

my Physical Therapist lives nearby and his son and his GF were here on a break from Texas A&M. damn aggies! anyway.......they wanted to shoot at our range so i took 5 handguns and 2 rifles and a shotgun. hour and a half later they were ready to go. loved it. she had never fired a handgun b4. of all the guns shot (at clangers only), they all said the ruger pictured above was the most fun by far. shot a hog with it today. 25 yds standing, one shot, through both shoulders, my cast 250 gr RNFP. love this gun.
