Super Blackhawk project

Post by RocDoc »

Finally got my RW Grips brass NM Bisley, had them do an experiment for me with a Webley reproduction lanyard ring. More than happy with results, this is for my RCA 1987? Super Blackhawk. The RW frames not discussed much here, big following on the Single Action forum.

I have an RW brass frame that I had put on one of my RSS's that I had Turnbull restore for me.
Turnbull asked me if it was a RW frame. They had heard of them but never had one in hand.
They commented that it was a well made very high quality frame.

Cheers,
JAY

Yes I recall your revolver, a work of art. I am not so bad at fitting SS frames, think the brass will be easier. RW is doing a Bearcat Dragoon project for me, may send to Tyler Gun works, another experiment.

@RocDoc and JAYDAWG,
I just ordered two RW brass grip frames for a shooter project, a NM 1973 Blackhawk. I ordered a round and a square back trigger guard version. I never tried to fit a brass grip frame to a gun and buff it out. Do you guys have any pointers for me? Mike
You can always get more with a kind word and a gun.... than with a kind word alone.

Advice: go slow, no power tools, I have done a few SS conversions that I got from Ruger via Midway. I use little jewler type files, emory cloth, and Scotch Brite pads to match brushed SS. Brass obviously softer, so go slower. Strip the frame of hammer, trigger and guts so you can test fit often. Will likely buff my brass frame bright, so will use a Dremel with Flitz on felt wheels, only after a perfect fit.
