Ruger Deerstalker advertising?

Post by twriggen »

Did Ruger ever do any advertising with the Ruger Deerstalker prior to the Ithaca lawsuit and name change to simply the 44 Carbine? If they did I would be interested in obtaining a copy for a display I'm working on that will include my early stamped Deerstalker.

Thanks,
Troy

Troy, Ruger’s 1961 catalog insert advertises it. In Don's first "The Ruger Papers" shows a good copy of it, finding an original copy might be difficult.

Of course it's in one of the book's I'm missing. I'm not seeing any of those currently for sale. Any thoughts as to where I might find a copy for sale?

Thanks,

Donnie's new book on advertisement shows them and where to find them. I believe.

I emailed Don and he got back with me he had one available so I snagged it up to sit next to my volume 2 already on the Ruger shelf.

There is also a 1961 foldout catalog, 8-1/2" x 11" that advertises Deerstalker as well as Ruger advertising in the American Rifleman and other magazines from the era.
A neat Deerstalker item is the hangtag/envelope marked "DEERSTALKER" that was sent out with the first guns that enclosed the instruction manual.
I believe there is also a Ruger printed Deerstalker paper banner.
