SS 357 Redhawk

Post by Charlie1022 »

Who else has owned and shot the Redhawk in 357 mag? I have owned both the 5.5 and 8.5 length barrels. but had a brain fart and sold the 7.5 years ago. Bothe were very good shooters. The added weight were great for follow up shots. Has anyone owned one in blued.

Hi Charlie,

I'm not sure they made any 357 Redhawks in blue but, I could be wrong. I have a blued 41 Mag which is pretty scarce. Maybe less than 1000 made.

I have a 5.5 inch stainless 357 that I shoot quite a bit. Yeah, it's a big heavy gun but there sure as heck isn't any felt recoil!

Yes they are a fun gun to shoot. The extra weight really helps dampen the recoil. When I used to shot competition years ago I would beat the guy that would shoot Redhawk 44 mag's by more than a second because it did not have the recovery time of the guns recoiled more. I need to get it out of the safe and shoot it again. I have even hunted deer with it and have taken two with it before I bought my Super Redhawk in 44 mag and have taken deer with it also.

When the Redhawks came out,,, I wanted one. I kept bugging my LGS for one. Well, he called to let me know he had a couple come in (finally!)A buddy & I headed up there to get me one & he was considering getting one himself. When we got there, he had 2 44 mag Red hawks, and 2 of the 357's. While I was inspecting my 44, my buddy had already picked up the 357. He claimed it. The other 357 was already spoken for,,, so I missed out. Well, we reached an agreement,,,, that if he ever sold his,,, I'd get first dibs.
It took a LONG time, but just about 2 years ago, he finally relented & sold it to me. It was still NIB & in the shipper. The shipper had suffered a bit of dog chewing damage, but the package was excellent. He's never fired it at all. Well, I just couldn't stand it, and I have shot MY 357 Redhawk a bit. I've let others try it as well. Everyone who has shot it, loves it!

Did you get the 5 1/2 or 7 1/2 inch? I have owned both and likes shooting both. Had a brain fart and sold the 7 1/2 one day to play with something else and wish I had it back.
