6MM ARC

Post by Charlie1022 »

Just saw that Hornady introduced a new caliber for use in an AR15 platform that really looks interesting. I already have a 6.5 CM in a RAPR but my AR's in just run out of power beyond about 350 yards. I was looking at the 6.5 Grendle but this new caliber has my attention. Anyone else have one or know anything more?

They seem to come up with a new caliber every week. I can't keep up with it anymore!

Charlie, here's a link to a American Rifleman article on it. It seems to be just what you're after. https://www.americanrifleman.org/articl ... y-6mm-arc/

Ive been interested in this one for awhile, but keep comparing it to my 243W rifles. The 6.5 somehow looks like a "243 lite" to me, utility-wise. The AR upper compatibility means nothing to me, I'm just that guy.

My Ruger Frontier with Hornady's 243 Reduced Recoil seems to do anything this new whiz-bang offers. Except of course for the spray-n-pray potential of an AR switch-barrel...

I recall when the "short-fat" cases were all the rage, after the 6mm PPC started taking all the matches. Winchester came out with the WSM cartridges, and dominated the S-F market with superior everything from 325/338 to the 223 rounds with those rounds.

Someone can offer 6mm ARC experience here to change my mind? (not just ad copy?)
