New member from MI

Post by JMV375 »

Greetings to all,
My name is Joe Viviano - I purchased my first Ruger when I was 18 years old.
Shot my first whitetail buck with a Ruger # 1 in 1980 and have been hunting with #1's exclusively. I am 66 years old now and still shooting , reloading and hunting with my # 1's.
Went to Namibia a few years back and my group (myself, my son, my brother and my father) all used Ruger #1's on our hunt.
Nothing better than hunting with a Ruger #1 - in my opinion. I was raised to make the first shot count and the # 1 epitomizes this ethic.
I am retired from a 35 year career in law enforcement (20 years US Secret Service special agent - 15 years DHS special agent) and I very much look forward to connecting with other Ruger # 1 admirers/collectors at ROCS.

Best regards

Welcome aboard from NW Ohio near Bowling Green. I also love to shoot and collect Ruger No. rifles. I especially like shooting one in Ruger .204 as my varmint rifle. I just turned 78 years old and have shot varmints on our family farm since No.1 rifles were introduced in the late 1960s. My career revolved around Agriculture and I still help at planting and harvest times. My collection includes some of the non prefix serial numbered rifles, into the current production rifles. I shoot a Ruger .44 Mag. on Ohio White Tail deer on wooded property I own. My grandson joins me deer hunting and he took a great 10 point buck last November with his compound bow. He is now in college at the University of Cincinnati in Engineering.
I am fully retired and attend gun shows all over, looking to add to my collection! Welcome aboard the ROCS Forum. I graduated from The Ohio State University in the late 1960s. Great football game last night when we beat Notre Dame!

I use exclusively by Leupold. I personally like their old Vari X III models with in a variety of configurations. I have taken 2 New Mexico Elk with a .300 Win. Mag. I gave it to my grandson for his own Elk hunts in the future. It carries a Leupold Premium scope with a 30MM tube in 3.5 X 10 power. I shot a wall hanger 6X^ in 2004 in the mountains of northern New Mexico. It was a great experience! Brass Frame, Lee

Howdy, welcome aboard! Image

Owned a No.1 in 458 Win Mag back in the ‘80s. Wish I hadn’t let that one go.

welcome to the group. I am a Michigander, grew up on a farm in sw mi, had first job out of college in Detroit area, now retired in Fl. Was a true No 1/3 addict but alas, passed stewardship on to others, except for few safe queens and some shooters. Look forward to hearing more about your shooting stories with the one shot wonders…
