Any Redhawk 8 shot .357 Owners here

Post by RoninPA »

Have a question for any owners of a Redhawk 8 shot .357. I got a new one and the machining of the rear of the cylinder just doesn't look correct to me. Would like someone to take a picture of theirs to compare mine to.

Here is what mine looks like:

Notice the cartridge head is not completely supported. Almost looks as though the rear of the cylinder wasn't milled correctly. I sent an email/photos to Ruger after talking to customer service but haven't heard back from them yet. The end of the ejector rod doesn't look quite right also.

Already got an answer on the other forum. This model is cut for moon clips. There were suppose to be 3 sent with the gun but I received none. So...I'll call Ruger CS back and tell them I screwed up and ask them to forgive me and ask if they could send me a couple moon clips.

I called Ruger CS and talked to a very nice lady (told her I was sorry that I didn't do my homework first before calling the first time) and got a lot of info from her. One, they will send me some 8 round moon clips for the Redhawk..gratis..and she checked and said that yes you can shoot it safely without the moon clips (but I probably won't).

It looks like for the later models (higher s/n's) Ruger changed the cylinder to accept the moon clips. No idea when it happened and she wasn't sure either.

But, Ruger CS comes through again.
