OK, time for a confession. In 1969 when I graduated from high school, I killed white tails in WV with a model 700 Remington in .308. Happens to be my favorite rifle caliber. Having said that, as youngsters we bought Remingtons for barrel quality. It was my understanding that Ruger did not have great barrels. As a result In all my years, I have never owned a Ruger rifle.

tommygun: I have been under the impression that early ruger barrels were Douglas and very accurate. Ruger in -house barrels now are very good. Dr.C
