Bill Ruger began his Single-Six engraving program in 1955/56. In total there were only 260 Single-Sixes Factory Engraved in a relatively short 3-4 year period. 22 guns were exported to and engraved in Spain at the very beginning of the engraving program. Charles H. Jerred, a young talented engraver from New York, was also contracted to do engraving in the USA. Jerred went on to engrave 238 Single-Sixes. This is one of a group of 7 guns that he engraved at the very end of the program. It was shipped to American Wholesale, CA in June 1958.
Today all of the Factory Engraved Single-Sixes are highly desirable and sought after by collectors.

Flat Top: Your display at the recent OGCA was a real collection of engraved Rugers. These guns continue to increase in value and their visual appeal is like fine jewelry. Thanks for sharing your collection of factory engraved Rugers with us. It is neat to see engraved Rugers from the beginning of the factory project to the end! Great job Bill

Wow, that is fine jewelry! I was reading Dougan's book this winter about Jerred's engravings. Very precious stuff, thanks for sharing!

Here you go Lee. As you well know, this is Spanish engraved #5100. It is the first gun in a group of 20 consecutively serial numbered guns (#5100 - #5119) that Bill Ruger sent to Spain for engraving at the very beginning of his engraving program in 1955. #5100 is new in its original presentation case. The Spanish engraved guns are the Holy Grail of the Single-Six Engraved gun series!!

It doesn't get much "cooler" than that!!!
Did the Spanish guns ship out in the fitted cases, or in the regular cardboard box? I know the Jerred guns shipped in fitted cases...

Fitted presentation cases like the other RSSEs. The case pictured with #5100 Spanish is its original case.
