WBR Art Collection
WBR Art Collection
The book After the Hunt by Adrienne Ruger Conzelmam (I think WBR grand-daughter) is fantastic! Covers the WBR Art Collection. Got mine cheap on Amazon, perfect inside, heavy stock paper, but torn dust cover. WBR sure had an eclectic taste in art!

He sure did have good taste in just about everything! I also like art but have chosen to invest much of my funds into other collectibles. There are a few pieces from that book that really intrigued me or at least still stand out in my mind. In particular, the one of the hatchet and the other of the peanuts with "broken" glass that hung in his office were very well done. I can't remember the names of those and should dig the book out. If I find a good reproduction of them somewhere I'll find a spot on the wall. Never really got serious about looking for them though and am glad you reminded me.

RocDoc,
Like you I bought one and a spare for Watertender on Amazon in great used condition. Carl is always sending me a book so when I found a pair I grabbed them and was quite proud. Two days later Ruger.com store was running a special on new books for $49.95. I think $10 more per issue than I paid. They seem to have increased in circulation and hit the market now and can be found new on Amazon at $40.00. Ruger.com is also still running the sale for anyone interested in the book. As you stated it is written and produced by Adrienne Ruger Conzelman, William B. Ruger's granddaughter. Its a beautiful hardbound book and features some of the most cherished artwork from his extensive collection. http://shopruger.com/After-The-Hunt/productinfo/80095/

Re: WBR Art Collection
I apologize and was incorrect about where I saw the paintings. They may be in After the Hunt but the ones that I was referring to were shown on pg. 300 of R.L. Wilsons Ruger and His Guns. In the caption, it says Trompe-l'oeil paintings so cleverly done that the pictures have fooled the eye of visitors to Ruger's Southport office for many years. One is of a hatchet hanging on a board and the other appears to be a free sample of peanuts and broken glass. Really nice oil paintings but the wrong book!

It is a fantastic book indeed! Thanks Gene! As an old timer said "Them are Right Purty Pitchers".... Of course he was looking at a monthly publication on a towboat we were working on.... I will leave it to your imagination as to which magazine....

Some people sit on $.05 of knowledge like it is the treasure of Egypt. I will teach anyone $.10 worth just to prove a point...
