I am thinking there were not many of the 1st Contract Target Models in the 150XXX range; most in the 7XXXX range. I recall the one from the Davis collection was in this higher range.

Yessir, that is correct according to Chad, just what you said........Laura had the lower number,in fact had a couple of them in the #71480,75845 to 79979 serial range, versus maybe 60 guns in the 150,000 to15,060 (Chad had noted,recorded,150,035 to 150-058) now this gun brings the lower level, number down, closer to the 150,000 'start' range.............
by the way, the box is MINT shape, but came from a different source ,SAME guy,but the number on the box appears to be #156,xxx something, cannot tell as it was erased AND the manual is a 1952 revised manual , that is again revised in the lower left hand corner dated, 1-57..................when I got this gun on Saturday at the Summit show, both Kerm Lusk and myself thought it was a red eagle, in the #15,000 range and did NOT realize the "added", extra "0" in the middle, duh......went back and the guy had pulled out a box, he thought it was for this gun, came from the same owner with other Rugers he is in the process of selling..........good day and a good show and was good to see Kerm again. His friend was Roland Kirsch, who helped Bill Ross ( He who noted the "Ross variation") write his early yellow covered book..those are Rolands drawings in the book.
