Great work on the early single six worksheet.
I have one that you might add.
Per Ruger Factory Letter;
Ruger Single Six #1434 was produced April 1954 and
shipped to Marshall Wells Company in Duluth MN in April 1954.

Ok, letters are back. Let's add:

691 - Produced and shipped in March 1954 to Monroe Hardware Company, Monroe, LA - This looks like it has the early Ruger rebluing on it with plum now showing through. Pretty cool.

850 - Produced and shipped in March 1954 to Berds Sporting Goods, Denver, CO.

The serial #40 guns have been in my care for over 25 years. The Single Six left the factory in August, 1957 along with the BKH3 and the BKH4, per a factory letter dated December 13, 2000. They were shipped to Gopher Shooting Supply, per a personal letter from Dean Purdey of Gopher. Gopher was one of the earliest Ruger distributors and assigned this number to the sons of Clarence Purdey founder of the company. I added #40 Super Blackhawk Long Frame, #40Hawkeye and the #0040 Standard Auto to this group of early two digit Rugers. Brass Frame/Lee E.

I have much more history of the Gopher Supply assigned Rugers. Their serial numbers are # 39, 40, 57, & 58. A family historical book was written by Mrs. Purdie called The Lengthening Shadow. It is signed by Dean Purdie and gives much information about the family and the shooting supplies they sold. Old catalogs from the 1960s are also in my collection. Brass Frame/Lee E

I just acquired SN 321, which was made and shipped in February, 1954, to Freeland Scope Stands in Rock Island, IL. This one has had the safety conversion done, with original parts included, and has coppery streaks in the frame. It also has "crowned" screw heads with pointy ends. I wonder if it was Uncle Al's personal property? Albin Freeland invented many target shooting accessories that are still standard today and built incredible, coveted target rifles. He was also a rimfire shooting champion and record holder. Photos added. In the process of the records search I also learned that SN 312 was also made and shipped in February, 1954, to Emery-Waterhouse Company in Manchester, NH. They were one of the first American hardware companies, established in 1840.
