Letter Received T-678

Post by Rugerologist »

This 1960 Mark I lettered as a model T-678 but that was about all that it said. It has the London Nitro Proof mark as well as a factory marked muzzle brake. The letter said nothing about these accoutrements. I sent for it the way they requested and did not attempt to get it to Mr. Killoy. It was a timely response on their part and they sent a manual marked A-7-81.

I sure wish we could find a way to get better letters like S&W, Colt & Winchester. Would be happy to pay more for better historical information and provenance. I have gotten letters from Ruger in the past for a foreign proof marked guns that said "shipped to a export distributor ".

These Ruger letters are an insult to serious collectors. They aren't even signed.

Well, what can we do about it? Should we start a snail mail and email campaign to Ruger from all of us? I'd be willing to pay 10x their asking price for something meaningful. The letter is even bent from them inserting it into the envelope.

Ruger web site has a tab "Tell the CEO"... Maybe all us ROCS members could send him the request?

Pretty monogram... I wonder if it comes on a roll?

I agree. I can obtain more and better information from Chad's books than from Ruger. The only difference is it isn't "official".
