Here is the reply I just received from Chief AJ on the Deluxe Sporter that have his name stamped on the receiver.

100 Stamped Chief AJ on receiver. Stamped at Silver's Machine Shop in Champaign, IL. Stamp bought by RC Robert at a RC meeting at Louisville, KY and in front of RC meeting 100 people the Stamp was destroyed from being used again.

Hope this clears up this issue.

Mine is 230-64233. I can not explain where the early serial numbered one came from.

Charlie, the early numbered one I bought out of the GUN LIST years ago.....

The owner was a friend of the CHIEF....he used it in match shooting until the CHIEF told him they are collectible :D :D :D

He sold it to me and it has the box and test target and all the other goodies like the card too....I need to get them out and compare them...I never checked to see if maybe the early one was one that was used in the block shoot....RR.

Rod, checked with the Chief and he said that he bought them in lots of 20 and had them made up so that explains the large difference in serial numbers. These were made up after the world record shoot. I am still looking for one of the 18 used in the world record shoot that were all borrowed from different people. He tuned them up and shot them in the world record and gave them back tot he owners.

Yes, I would like to get ahold of one of the originals. I've never heard about any of them showing up. I wonder if
Vaughn knows where some are.

Who else got one of the Chief AJ scout rifles? He only made up 100 of them where he removed the pistol grip and made the grip area straight for faster shooting. Most were wood stocks and he put brass tacks in the stock. I know that he made 4 in the BBZ laminated stock. He hand painted an Indian on the stock on a few of the wood stocked ones. He mounted a BURRIS scout scope on a few like the laminated one I have. They also came with a flash suppressor he installed.
