At the recent Dallas Safari Club, I got to hold Jack O'Connor's favorite Winchester Model 70 in 270. The Dall on the right is the one O'Connor shot in 1951. The one on the left was shot by Herb Klein, I think on maybe the same hunt in the Yukon. It was the record at the time.
I can see I am going to have to work on this pic! That is Herb's Dall that you can see.
Well, with Tom's help, the pic is better now. You still can't see the left horn of O'Connor's Dall. It is the longest.

Let's plan on it. DSC is a real blast. A good place to talk to the Ruger folks. They don't seem to be as covered up here as they are at SHOT and NRA.

Sounds good, even though I am out of my league at DSC, was fun when I attended a couple years ago.
Lee, is Bradford O'Conner the son of Jack O'Conner?

Yes; Bradford is Jack O'Connor's son. Was a real treat to visit with him and his wife at DSC. I have a really long story about visiting with Bradford over the phone well over 25 years ago. He helped me with acquiring the Jack O'Connor 21 Club No.1 rifle. Those days we did it with phone calls, calling information for telephone numbers and letters! Cell phones were in their infancy in the US and NO Internet.
Hey, all of us Ruger guys are out of our league there!

Love to hear your 'really long story' of your aquisition of Jack's 21 Club #1 in a future ROCS digest. Always hated the 270, but would have loved to have held Jack's favorite. I am a fan of the Model 70, though Rugers rule.

Too cool. I got to see some of Elmer Keith's guns at the museum in the Cabela's in Boise ID, several years back. Didn't get to touch em though!!
