One of the harder to find tools sold, hopefully one of y'all put it into their collection. Here's the link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/294831288765?a ... 7675.l2557

Bennett,
She is on her way from Maine to Ohio as we speak. ;)

Did you see the Yankee Clydesdale Winch that's on ebay ? I wish it was the complete package, but still extremely rare to see one for sale. The seller has been offering a good bit of Ruger memorabilia lately.

Best,
Terry

Terry, congrats on you adding it to yourstable, I didn't see the winch. It's not often those tools show up for sale, I would say the majority of the ones left are in collector's hands.

Rod,
I'm a firm believer in Karma. Chuck and I helped you find your ashtray and up pops a Breast Plate Drill for me to bid on :o  . All I had to do was be the last man standing with my hand in the air when the auction ended :D .

For whoever got the breast drill, I would be interested to know if the Ruger Corp rollmark is on the aluminum arm that attaches to the gear wheel. I don't see it at the front of the gear housing near the chuck.
It is also interesting that this one has a short arm instead of the long.

Radical,
Remember John tells us in his book that the Breast Plate Drills were more than likely the proto-types for the drills that followed.
I count three variations right now. :) In Johns book Ruger Pistols & Revolvers chapter two The Ruger Corp on page 30 there is a picture of Johns Breast Plate Drill with out the pistol grip in vanadium chrome. On page 31 he shows his blued Breast Plate Drill with the pistol grip & curved Breast plate like my drill with the long marked crank handle. My drill is like his except mine is vanadium chrome and has the short non marked crank handle plus the gear head bolt on my drill is slotted for a screw driver. My pistol grip Type I also has a slotted gear head bolt, both would be very early in production I would think. I would like to know if your drill and Ricks two plus Mr. Tim Bailey's NIB drill and anyone else who owns one, have slotted gear head bolts & have you ever unscrewed the your end cap. ;)
Terry

Well here she is after a little spa (kerosene bath) treatment,
