ever since I started collecting the ruger semis, Ive wondered how many are in gloveboxes, under truck seats, in tackle boxes etc…
Well, I found one today that could fit any of those scenarios.
It’s a red eagle, standard typeVIII (the least rare)
And as far as condition, it’s a 1 out of 10 with .000008 % of the bluing intact.
The grips appear to have been run across a sander, and the receiver to frame fit is a bit sloppy.
How much did I pay? Probably way too much.
Why did I buy it? I have trouble NOT buying them.
AND, most importantly it was a recently widowed lady, and I wasn’t about to haggle with her. Besides, it came with two magazines!
To call it a “honest” gun is a understatement.

That pistol is exactly what Bill Ruger intended when he designed and sold them. It looks well used and abused but I bet it still goes bang when you pull the trigger. I would say that thousands of Ruger .22 pistols have been kept in less-than-ideal conditions since 1949. Some have resided in nightstands or sock drawers while others bounced around in trucks or tackle boxes or saddlebags. I can remember seeing a 1957 vintage RST4 being advertised as a ranch hand's truck pistol. That one had a few dings and spots on it but I am sure it functioned flawlessly. Thanks for showing us a real working pistol!

I like that old shooter, as Watertender said, that is what Bill Ruger intended them for, to be used!! I like the grips too, look like the ones on some old Colts that I have had, checkering worn slick.
