Not sure if I shared pics of this gun before, so here it is.

I came across a #3 in 375Win that was high polished in the white, no wood. It had belonged to a Ruger employee who was going to have Mitch Schultz build a custom gun but the gentleman passed and I was in right place at right time to be offered to buy it. I had some beautiful factory wood stocks I picked up years earlier so I thought it would look great wearing them. While at Tulsa almost a decade ago Barons Engraving folk were at the Ruger dinner so I approached them to do something special. Hence the specimen you see. My friend Mike redid the forearm with an ebony tip , mimicked #1 early forearm checkering and mimicked the red label butt stock checkering. I have vertical rings and vintage post/crosshair scope to mount. Enjoy

That is a very "deep relief" pattern of engraving on the receiver. Are the edges of the checkering cuts, sharp to your touch? Did you keep it to the original caliber? I have a pair of Winchester Model 21 shotguns that were engraved by a German Immigrant that bear similar deep engraving. They look very tasteful and also have gold inlayed gold wire around the edges of the receives.
Your No.3 deserves a No.3E! Brass Frame/Lee

The engraving is excellent and crisp and somewhat sharp, and Mitch Shultz did the blueing for Barons too, since he had done the polishing, etc beforehand. Best bluing job I have seen on top of exquisite engraving. Now I just need to add a fireplace to my FL home so I can display it there (wife says not )
