has anyone rebarreled a #1.....curious as to which gunsmith should be used, or has been satisfying to members, as I am considering redoing a #1 to 348 Winchester, hopefully in 1-S configuration.
just contemplating this move, any thoughts, recommendations, what(who) to avoid.... just a good discussion.
thanks

While I have not personally used him, Mark Penrod in Indiana gets the most positive press among No.1 guys.
Just google it to find him. Good luck!

Followed your hint, sent a email to Jason at Lipsey's, cordial reply indicating they are deciding on 2016 models right now. I missed suggesting the pad, which I agree would be very attractive, but we agree on the other features, esp. the model....the wood would also be very positive, but I doubt it would occur. It is too bad we can't get wood like Sako uses on its Bavarian Carbines, but they are $2400 retail, so I suppose that we could see the wood if it would sell, just not at $1200. There was a time 40 years ago when Walnut with good figuring was competitively priced, but scarcity and demand have ended that. Have my fingers crossed on a 1-S. in .348!
