There were more engraved No.1 rifles packed into a 10' display than anyone could imagine. Great job and an impressive display by our ROCS president! Great job Lee N. and Tom Hutton. Brass Frame/Lee

All the pictures are great, but seeing them in person, up close, and all together was sooo impressive.
Winning the silver medal is extremely difficult. You not only have to have a very rare gun with historical importance, but you need all the providence to support your claim. To my knowledge this is only the second medal won by a Ruger firearm. The first was a 15" Blackhawk "Flat Top". If there were others I am not aware of them.
Congratulations!!!!

The O M Crazy post reminded me that I have done some preliminary work on trying to detail the
awards success of Rugers at the NRA Exhibits. The NRA Gun Collecting Review Volume I (published 1983)has a history of the Awards dating back to 1960, when they were started.
The first Ruger to be awarded a Silver Medal was the Auto pistol #1000000 in 1982(C#220).
In 1981, 35 Variations of the Ruger 357 Blackhawk(1955-1981) received an Award for Related Weapons Group within a Display.
In 1982, Ruger Hand Tools received a Certificate of Recognition.
I also believe the 15" 44 Flattop was awarded a Silver Medal, but I don't know when.
I also seem to recall that the Jerred engraved .357 Blackhawk, serial #100 was awarded a Silver Medal.
That is all I have; have gotten nothing from the NRA based on one request. Guess I will just have to be more persistant

There are more than I was aware of. The Silver Medals are supposed to stay with the gun if ever sold, so maybe the owners of the other three can provide some information such as the dates.

The 15" .44 Flattop was awarded its Silver metal in 1989.
