Re: Next RCA JOURNAL

Hello Guys,

The next RCA JOURNAL; as I write this, Vol. 36, No. 2 is being sorted and made ready to go to the post office, early next week. This issue contains the NRA/RCA show report and a very detailed story of the flat-gate Single-Six with lots of pictures.

regards, John

Re: XR3 grip frame & trigger variations

Hello Guys, There seems to be some merit to what Owen is saying, however, we shouldn't over think this, the change to the mold would only be to the third piece that I described. I have had one of the molds in my hands while Jack Behn explained how it works. I do not know how to describe the third pi...

Re: Latest ROCS Digest

Hello Guys, Hoober's recollection brings back a lot of fond memories from the Amarillo days. I was born and raised and lived in Amarillo until 1980. Donnie lived in Lubbock, 100 miles south and Jim lived in Canadian, 100 miles east, so the Pioneer Gun Collector's show was a perfect meeting place for...

Re: XR3 grip frame & trigger variations

Hello Guys, Measuring the slots is meaningless. The molds are precision machined to designated dimensions, when the "as cast" frames are formed there can be warping and shrinking to consider. Anticipated and predictable shrinkage is built into the mold cavity. Unlike a precision machined c...

Re: XR3 grip frame & trigger variations

Hello guys, 3 piece molds were utilized to die-cast these grip frames, the mold is made up of a right and a left side cavity and a 3rd piece that creates the trigger slot and the hollowed out space to accommodate the hammer. The slot is not machined. I'm sure that the slots were cleaned up during th...

Hello Guys, Below are captions from an article in RCA JOURNAL Vol. 34, No. 4 Faulk’s Collector Service was authored by Jim Cale aka Eaglebeak. Includes narrative and original cartoons drawn by Rik Vallegos, 16 issues May 1980 – Feb. 1984. Chad Hiddleson assumes Faulk’s and renames it Ruger News Exch...

Re: RCA JOURNAL update

Hello Mike Fox, I just read your post regarding your RCA JOURNAL. My first question is, why are you posting and complaining on the ROCS forum, did you think they can resolve this or do you delight in stirring up trouble. RCA has a forum as well. Actually, the new crew took over about 30 years ago. Y...

Re: Ivories with a Story

Hello everyone, What a great story, the last time I saw Roy was when he, Frank Bonaventura and Kim Pritula and I had lunch at a cafe in Newport in 2006. Several years before that, I don't recall when but, Roy and Bill had falling out and they agreed that Roy may be happier working somewhere else. Vo...
