Re: Sturm Ruger machinist tools

Ah then I assume it was used to check a particular part after machining was performed.
Very neat item. Do you know the retired gentleman and could you ask what pert this was used to inspect.

Re: Sturm Ruger machinist tools

Looking at the pictures I would guess it was a fixture used for checking a particular part. It would be interesting to know if it was used by Ruger.

Re: M77 284 Win

Thank you Bennett. I saw this gun on gunbroker and didn't think it was correct. I had the seller send me pictures of the barrel markings. They are not ruger factory markings. The gun has been re barreled. Thanks for the insight, I did not know that they chambered a few form the factory. 284 Winchest...

Re: CMP Rimfire Sporter match rifle

Very nice rifle. The fact that it shoots that well makes it even better. I checked out the barrel website as you suggested. Very interesting style of rifling. Seeing as how it is very accurate with soft lead 22lr ammo. I have to wonder if it would also work well with cast or swaged led bullets in ce...

Re: Ruger Hornet

I picked up a used new model Blackhawk last month For the hornet build. Decided on a 12inch barrel length half octagon half round. Got a bisley grip frame, trigger, and hammer for it and I'm in the process of fitting the grip to the cylinder frame. Gotta make the cylinder and chamber it yet. I would ...

Re: Ruger Hornet

I thought about doing that since I have a K Hornet reamer but decided not to. This gun was a target gray finish and laminated stock. Beautiful gun in perfect condition, just couldn't do it. Sold it and decided to build a Blackhawk bisley revolver in 7 shot 22K Hornet. Just something different.

Re: Ruger Hornet

Turns out I lost track of my own thread. The rifle will only shoot decent groups with the bullets seated out .015 off the lands. This makes the OAL too long for the rotary magazine, turning the gun into a single shot basically. Not what I had hoped for. I have come to the unhappy conclusion that the...

Re: Ruger Hornet

Finally got some positive results today.Tried 5 different loads, 34gr hp with Little Gun shot 3/8 5 shot group at 50yd. The rest no bigger than 1 inch and no flyers. I used the rear of the mag well on the receiver as a recoil lug. Made sure the rear tang and radiuses had clearance so the back of the...

Re: Ruger Hornet

Owen, The paper shim under the receiver was a temporary try at the range to see if it affected accuracy. This morning I free floated the barrel and torqued the screws to 60 inch lbs. back to the range this afternoon. Groups are now 5 shots in 1 inch at 50 yds no flyers now. Something is still moving...
