Very impressive catch! I have 3358, a Type II, 76 units after yours. Mine shipped in Feb. 1950.
My copy of RENE shows the Type II starting at 3253. The Encyclopedia of Ruger has the Type II starting at 3261.

I've had good luck with the smaller Harbor Freight machine and Hornady One Shot solution.

Try giving the mainspring housing area a dose of Kroil and let it soak overnight. When I first tore down my 4-digit Red Eagle it was pretty uncooperative. I just went on GB to see how ol' 0305 was doin. With a week to go, bidding is currently at $2,250. Highest I've seen was a Red Eagle that hammered for $7,525 so there's plenty of room to go further.

This one will be fun to watch!
