Re: Bisley .22
Have had a Ruger Bisley .22 for years. When I bought it my son said, "Wear it out, Dad". Fat chance. Still shoots like a rifle. Great gun. You made a super find. Wear it out.

ruger quality control
Talking to sporting goods stores, I have heard complaints about new guns coming in with barrels drilled and tapped only part way and mounted sights wobbling, SP101's with actions that did not work properly, and one large sporting goods store salesman who said that 13 of his last Ruger firearms order...

Re: Ruger #3
Thanks. The 200th year stamp should make it an original barrel (therefore the Hornet conversion) . The .222 stamp is a machined flat on the left side of the barrel just ahead of the action. I'd love to send pics, but don't know how to do that yet.

Re: Favorites??
Geez fellows, lets hear it for the Bearcat. I bought a Super Bearcat (type 8) in 1972. Between me, my two sons, and my grand children, it has accounted for a great number of rabbits, grouse, ground squirrels, and rock chucks. It has accompanied me on many of my big big game hunts and provided the fi...

Ruger #3
I recently purchased a Ruger #3 in .222 Rem. The barrel has the 200th year stamp. Did Ruger make any 200th year #3's. Could this be a Hornet barrel with the chamber reamed out to 3 deuce? Function is flawless and it shoots sub minute groups, so I am not complaining. Very curious however.

Re: .22wmr only
Thanks Flattop 44. Still has factory finish. And yes, it is a nice handling gun, and I enjoy shooting it. Safety conversion is easy to live with, although the trigger pull has a bit more creep than the original.

.22wmr only
I rescued a Ruger SS in .22wmr only. It came in a box - a junk box. Everything was there except for the grips. I sent it to Ruger after I had assembled it, and they gave it the safety retro-fit. They also sent back all the original parts. It is a great user gun. Is there any collector value?
