Sturm Letters

Keep looking! Good stuff still being found. With a lot of help from my friends a package of Sturm correspondence came yesterday. Here are a couple of letters written to Alexander Sturm's neighbor.

During that time with Walt, John and I were "pumping" him for any bit of info we could get. He said those ivories for the alphabet Single Sixes were sent to Ruger with the holes for the medallions already drilled. Walt actually installed the medallions himself.

Newspaper photo from 1934. Gene Tunney was the world heavyweight champion boxer from 1926 to 1928 and light-heavyweight champ 2 times in 1922 & 23. He defeated Jack Dempsey twice. Justin Sturm was an interesting person. He was a sculptor, author, and Yale football star. He wrote & produced at least 2 Broadway plays. He married Katherine McCormick, daughter of Chicago newspaper millionaire.
