Two possibilities then:
1. Someone had a non-prefix BBS barrel and put it on this early '80's rifle, or
2. Someone fabricated it by adding the 1S front sight and rib.

Re: 1B with iron sights?
Hard to say without a serial number and much better pictures (I looked at it too, but moved on quickly with 4 poor, far-away pictures and no information).
Best case scenario: a non-prefix BBS that has been restocked with post-1976 wood.

The world has gone crazy. If I tried to sell this, I'd be lucky to get $800.
You can't even justify the wood: OK on one side, but no figure on the other, in very typical early '80's fashion.

Re: 1A 22 Hornet
All you newer (and old-time) addicts are saving me a lot of money! Not that I'm always happy about being outbid on things . . . I have been surprised by the low prices that some things have been selling for lately; both non-prefix guns and the more rare later prefixed guns (such as that 1A22 Hornet)...

Re: non prefix kick
Very nice. Now all you need is vertically split rings to go with each of them!

Re: WBR centennial
Thanks for the reply. Any firearm we purchase is done for a reason best known or justified by only ourselves. I can't fault anyone for wanting one of these; I thought I might try to get one too, but I have moved on from that thought as my interests tend to lie elsewhere, and I have a self-imposed re...

Just curious - are you happy with the wood-to-metal fit on yours?

Re: WBR centennial
Well, that one certainly looks a lot nicer than the others I have seen!
(about like slightly better than average 1980's regular issue wood )

Re: WBR centennial
Just picked up my WBR from my dealer. Wood is exceptional. I was nervous because some I've seen on GB have been somewhat plain. I'll get some pics posted hopefully tomorrow... Yes, the ones I've seen so far have not inspired much awe with regards to wood quality, fit or finish. For the stated (or e...
