Brownells was still selling barreled actions in the '90s. When they were getting out of them (or Ruger stopped marketing them), an LGS I used to haunt had several that were very tempting, including an RSI in 7x57. I thought that would be the bees knees with a 1A wood set on it, versus the RSI wood.

My books show the RSI first cataloged in 1984 or 85, so it might be safe to assume this is when the change to the fluted front band occurred and why no RSIs exist with the unfluted band.
