Re: Blackhawk 3 screw value?
Are they actually ivory? You can do some easy tests (if allowed) and if you look at/take some good pictures of the bottom of the grip that will also help. If you see a "grain" pattern that starts to narrow it down. If you heat a straight pin up red hot and try to push it into the backside ...

Re: Doing more GP100 research
Yes, the "new" guys probably didn't do any history on the line they are managing. I found out about the not using the catalog numbers one time where I was talking to CS about the model number vs catalog vs description. She told me that she could give me the description if I gave her the mo...

Re: Doing more GP100 research
"Ruger confuses themselves sometimes." Yeah, and us too. Looking through my list I also see that in some of the newer models they use the full caliber, then barrel length, then what would normally be the underlug designation (but it's not like the first models) 1768 GP-3575 1 Blued, .357 m...

Re: Doing more GP100 research
Chad, I don't know what to think about Rugers model numbers any more for the GP's. They started out with the "1" first digit to designate a .357 and later went to a "3" but even with the newer models they still use both the 1 and 3 to designate a .357. They seem to have used the ...

Re: low back vs high back
Depends on the viewpoint. There weren't as many low backs made as high backs, so from a collectors view, the low back might be worth a more. Then from a shooting perspective, some like the "feel" of the low back better so it might be worth more to them. Others like the high back grip bette...

Re: NYPD Ruger Speed Six 3" 38 spl
Your questions are not argumentative at all, you want to get as much info about your Ruger as possible, which all of us Ruger owners want so don't worry about it. We're all pretty thick skinned here and I would say that all of us have learned something different about guns we were sure we knew all a...

Re: NYPD Ruger Speed Six 3" 38 spl
IIRC, the NYCPD guns weren't shipped directly to the NYCPD. They were shipped to different gun shops who were contracted by the NYCPD to receive the firearms and ship to NYCPD when the PD requested them. Davidsons Supply Company in NC was the beginnings of what is now the Davidsons we know. They sta...

Re: Wolff gp100 main spring for Speed six?
Just looked at my replacement springs for both the Six series and the GP100's. Looks like it should work, but check the length of the spring because the hammer struts for the Six series and the GP is different and some of the springs might not fit correctly.
