I bought the stag grips in the mid-90s from Lynn Laudise. I wish he was still with us as he always found the neatest Ruger handguns and accessories.

Re: Old Model Blackhawk
Bill is correct that a former owner "customized" a BKH40. We will never know, but it would be very interesting to find out why those modifications were made.

Re: Plum frame RSS5
This Blackhawk 44 Magnum (s/n 475) was shipped in December 1956 and has a plum frame. It is not as striking as the frames of the .22 and .357, but kind of neat.

A 44 Special by Hamilton Bowen
I collect mainly revolvers in 44 Magnum caliber (Ruger and S&W), but most enjoy shooting guns in 44 Special. The gun below started out as a .357 Magnum and was converted to 44 Special with a 4-inch barrel and lanyard ring by Hamilton Bowen. It is a fun gun to shoot and carry. :) Bill http://www....

Re: Blackhawk 1971 357:question
I agree with Bill; sell it as is. If the new owner wants to remove the name and address of the former owner, that is their decision. The bottom of the grip frame would have to be refinished with aluminum black. Retouching the etching with aluminum black might make it a little less noticeable.
