Re: single six help!

#1 to what flattop44 said. Yes, the folks at Ruger would miss a rollmark every now and then. There are also few Bearcats known without barrel rollmarks. Then I've also seen two guns without any rollmark what-so-ever, not even a serial number...which we can surmise left the factory under unscrupulous...

Re: brass grip frame

That serial number doesn't appear in JD's list.
Doesn't mean the brass frame wasn't factory installed, but for originality of the gun the next owner would want a letter from the factory verifying it was shipped with the brass frame.
The current price is appealing though!!

Re: Wheel of Rugers

I didn't know you had a case like that Lee. I agree, it does appear that it was probably something used by the factory at their exhibits. And...with the connection to the factory I am just about certain that Fred Davis, Jr. had.... I'll let you know if I find anything in my stuff with a pic of that ...

Re: One Millionth Auto

I think it interesting that Ruger also made pistols 1000001 though 1000004.
Their "bling" is vasty different than the 1,000,000th auto.
Wondering if a few execs of the company also wanted examples for themselves.

Re: RSSE 1956

Something else that I must add, once collectors discovered CHJ was still alive and well in Fulton, New York, he was asked by several to engrave Ruger SA's in the same patterns he did with Ruger. His son Jerred, Jr. also engraved in the same patterns, but I believe these are marked with a roman numer...

Re: President French

I had his Ruger issued business card at one time.
Heard an interesting story that after a few months of French being there he cornered WBR about when he was going to have an office, WBR looked at him, gave him some gruff comment that I don't remember right now, and French was soon moving on.

Re: Ruger - Hawkeye Communications

Hmmm...that looks like the layout that was put in the one issue of GUNS magazine, October 1977 if I remember right. Don't recall seeing the same layout in Gun Digest.

Re: New RL serial numbers

They were made in 20 gauge...not many, and they were offered to employees mostly and also a few friends of the factory.
