Hunting Pictures

Post by ElNumeroUno »

Today is the start of hunting season in many locales. September 1 is the traditional opening day of dove season here in Texas
In you ROCS Digest that you should be seeing in about 6 weeks, I have commented in the President's Letter section that we will be looking for a good cover picture for the Spring 2017 Digest that features one of our Members with a game animal ( I suppose birds might be considered too) that they have taken with a Ruger firearm. Rules are pretty simple- a Member( could also be with his kids, grand kids, or even a friends children), a Ruger firearm in the pic and tastefully done. We are looking for a Cover shot here. Your Editor will have the last say. You can get into the "hunt by posting your pic here. It is easy; you just upload; no hosting services required, etc.I am going to go ahead and see if I can get one of my favorites from 2007.
I was using one of the new(at that time) Lipsey's Exclusives AH in 25-06.

I think this 25-06 AH is the best kept secret in hunting Ruger No.1's!

These pictures are from a hunt in Central Texas a few years ago with Mike Fifer, Lee Newton, and Don Findley. This is a buck Mr. Fifer shot on that trip. Scored 162 B&C.

My recollection was that Mike was shooting a 1A in 300 RCM. One shot; DRT at about 150 yards,

Here is my entry (the only picture I have) Rifle is No.1-S 7 Mag (early 130- prefix) with Weaver 4x scope. Deer is a white tail 5x6 I got in 1978 shortly after acquiring the rifle. This was taken in the Hamby Saddle area of the Selway.
