RCA RST6

Just picked up a RCA RST6 #1533 unfired in what appears to be the original box and shipping sleeve. However I'm not an expert so I'll ask those who are far more knowledgeable to enlighten me. Both the shipping sleeve and box are hand numbered. Perhaps this is normal? But more interesting to me is the box is labeled for an RST4? Unusual? Perhaps just a mistake however I thought there would be a little more attention to detail concerning a RCA item?

Any thought's, experience or info would be appreciated.

Godspeed
Mark

Mark, the hand written numbers on the box and shipper are correct. I imagine that the RST4 box is just a mistake. Makes it an interesting package.

If the box is a red hinged box with a white emblem I believe it is the correct box. In the mid 1970's Ruger switched to 2 boxes for their handguns instead of a box for each model. The boxes were marked RST4 and BN36 which were for the 4.75" barrel .22 pistol known as the Standard Pistol or RST4 and the .357 Blackhawk with a 6.5" barrel which is the BN36. Any other handgun would have a printed end label on the box which in the case of your pistol would be RST6. My 1st new pistol was an RST6 in a box marked RST4 with the serial number written on the box in white. Hope this helps.

You have the RST6 end label in your pictures. There are a lot of boxes that the label fell off because the glue was not the greatest. You have the whole package. Very nice looking pistol. Thanks for showing us.

Mark, welcome to the forum, I have two of those and my packaging on both looks identical to the one you have. The end labels on mine are still attached to the boxes so I can't tell you weather the boxes are marked RST4 like yours. Very nice pistol you have there, thanks for sharing. Let us know a little more about yourself, weather you have a passion for Rugers and what else you have.

yessir ,looks correct, simply glue the end label back on the box before you lose, Mr. Murphy was an 'optimist'......... 8-) ;)

as noted above, they only made the two boxes or all those era guns, and only the end labels changed for each model and they put whatever "fit" in either of those two boxes... ;)

Bennett, I don't know if my interest in Rugers could be considered a passion or not although I've managed to acquire a few. A few Red Eagles Types IV, IX, VIII a couple of early Black Eagles one that resembles a NRA wheel gun 1957 RST6. I would say my primary interest has been 2 fold over the years Marlin Levers and High Standard pistols. I have a number of other interests along other lines such as early Remington pumps 14's & 141's, 8's & 81's. later being semi's. A few early revolvers Colt, S&W Assorted semi pistols. Not to many post 1970.

Roadglide you are afflicted with Rugeritis... You are among others with the same syndrome. I would like to see a picture of that RST6 "Wheelgun"
