This kind of thing just does not happen to me. My lucky day for sure.
I was at the local gun show this morning and on a table was a Bearcat in the grey molded plastic box and the tag says "New Model Bearcat"
Not really in to the New Model Cats but looking at it I knew it was not a NM. I asked if I could pick it up and the guy says sure and said this was a "new gun with the box with the manual". When I flipped it over and looked at the serial number it was J844 , I said new in the box huh? He assured me it was. He accepted my $400 offer and I brought it home. Hard to tell if it's been shot but not much. easily a 95+% gun!!
It gets better. I own one other Alpha Cat...... F844
My wife said I should just collect all the alpha #844's.
I told her I would work on that
Like I said my lucky day!!!!
Cheers,
JAY

Hey Jay you made out better with your new to you Alpha Bearcat than I made out buying my new to me 96/22. Meeting Coogs was nice but the blown CVT on my car added to the cost of the adventure...

It's great to make educated decisions when out looking at such things. Many "dealers" will say anything to make a sale or are simply ignorant about what they have. Congratulations to you on a nice find!

I bid an entire bag of marbles, a set of greasy Arkansas LUUUUV Pants with a custom racing stripe in the back and the blown CVT from my car... You ain't gonna get a better offer!!

Re: ALPHA CAT FIND
Thanks all. I feel real fortunate to have come across this one!
Bill, you are absolutely right and this time last year before I joined ROCS and this forum I never would have noticed this gun. But the "power" that is on display here lead me to research & learn more and discover that the Ruger Revolvers are my passion. I'm not quite focused as I should be on one model, but it looks like the single actions are getting my attention. Although I love the Security & Speed sixes, and my 10-22's and of course the SR autos....... Well, at least I've not bought any more Winchesters, Smiths, or Colts lately
Cheers,
JAY
I do not "own" these guns, I am but the next caretaker
