The Number 70 Collection

Post by Marksman »

Hello All,

Since I retired, I have been fortunate enough to pick up several Rugers individually or in small collections. My quest for this year was to find a 2-digit serial numbered gun. Well, I got lucky earlier this year and was able to acquire the #70 collection. All my guns are handguns, no long guns. So far, I am up to 13 guns (mostly digit prefix) with 2 or more still coming. Below are the photos of my most prized gun, the SBH #70.
So, as you can imagine, I would like to know if there are other serial #70 guns out there, even if they are not for sale right now. I would love to find a Single Six, Bearcat or Blackhawk. I even heard rumors that there is an engraved number 70 somewhere!
The other big question I have is who had the subscription number 70 originally? Maybe the letters from Ruger will shine some light on that, I am still waiting to receive them.
So, if anyone has any knowledge that will help me to piece the history of these guns together or knows of some more handguns with serial number 70, I will be thrilled to learn more. Thanks

Beautiful SBH you have there, not sure about any other #70 but one of us ended up the the ROCS-070 60th Anniversary SBH this past year. Good luck in your search and thanks for sharing.

That is a beauty!! Is it a Long Frame or Standard frame? Looks kind of like its a Long Frame but hard to tell from the fit of the butt in the box?

Thanks for the compliments,.

Bennett, I have #34 of the 60th SBH. Maybe someone would trade?

Bill, it's a long frame. I know the way it is placed in the box is not clear.

Good eyes Gents.
