Need Grips for 1970 Blackhawk.........

Post by alnukem »

Hi & Thanks. I have a beautiful, unaltered, 1970 6.5" 357 Blackhawk. The only thing I don't like about it is, it came with a set of maybe Sile Target grips. It has the xr3 red frame. I would like to get a set of Factory looking grips & prefer the Ruger madallion look. I really don't mind pay a $100 or so. What are my options to get a set that fit well. Thanks again.

Welcome to the forum! Classic Firearms and Parts has a set of 2nd variation for the XR3-Red frame in stock. However, the picture shows both sides, but the quantity is listed as 1. You may want to check to see if they mean 1 set or 1 stock.

It depends on the serial number range of your gun as to whether you would have the black eagle type with post '66 medallions or the high polish silver eagle type.
The change was made about 30-98xxx, but there is overlap of either type of a few thousand guns to each side of that number.
