Engraved New Model FT 44...pics added

Post by Doc4429 »

The thread on the Ruger Studio and the great article in the latest ROCS Digest (great articles by all of the authors :) ) got me to thinking about my 50th anniversary FT 44 that was engraved and inlaid with gold by Paul Lantuch about twelve years ago (seems like yesterday!!). I worked directly with Andrew Whitely to have this revolver engraved and inlaid and it is one of the favorites in my collection. I had two set of ivory grips made for it by Jim Alaimo of Nutmeg Sports. The first pair was carved to match the scroll work on the revolver (shown in the photo) and the second pair was made from bark ivory with Ruger monograms. A third pair was purchased from Ruger and has the "black eagle" monograms with a gold background. They are made of an imitation ivory material.

That could be the best looking New Model ever made. A beautiful revolver.

Simply blown away. I've never considered having one engraved but wow. That, like the others, shared recently is quite beautiful.

Bill, you have an outstanding example of an engraved New Model Ruger! The article on page 22 serves to remind all of us how a Ruger collector "could" have had a favorite gun engraved. I believe this type engraving could still be commissioned today through Baron Technologies? Wonderful pictures Bill and a great article by our own Don Findley. Enjoy both, Lee E
