the "original" "older model" of the Vaqueros did not come with "gold filled" lettering or serial numbers,,,this was done after market, using Bonanza gold or even silver filler...some folks like this , makes it stand out, and if you do NOT like it simply use a Q-tip, acetone, brush it off ( out) with a used brass or bronze bristle brush,,,you will NOT harm the guns finish...on a side note, some of the very early fist issue Vaqueros in 44-40 had forcing cone ( tight) issues, we used to simply recut the forcing cone a bit and no trouble........so if you have any problems with accuracy, check this out........good luck, nice caliber, I still have the 44-40 /44 mag convertible Super from back in the early 1990's to go with our Buckeyes 8-) ;)

Ha rugerguy another question , I have a old model 44 vaquero that shouldn't exist, give you a break down , I know they stopped making them in 2005 but this one has a new model barrel, all stainless trigger, new style grips with Sr madelion, and has test fire bullet with a 2010 test fire sticker, but it has big frame case color hardend and hammer is black on top and back but stainless sides .
also barrel is from New Port
Have you ever heard of late model guns beening assembled that far past cut of date, and does it make it anymore valuable or hurt.
Should I send for papers on it.
