Well used .45 Colt...

Post by Bob Wright »

This is Ruger has had more rounds fired through it than any other gun I own. Its a .45 Colt Blackhawk. I bought the gun in June of 1987. Before I even took it home, I had my dealer send it back to Ruger for fitting the Super Blackhawk Dragoon style grip frame and grips, and to fit a .45 ACP cylinder. At the time Ruger did not offer convertibles but would fit auxiliary cylinders. New grip, grip frame, cylinder and fitting/bluing the grip frame cost me $127.75 from Ruger.

About a year after buying the gun I gave it to my friend Tommy Russell to slick up the action, have it color case hardened by Doug Turnbull, and fit a Millett rear sight. I ordered the ebony grips from Lett. Total cost of the gun and customizing: $339.66!

One of my favorites!
