Thank you Team,
I appreciate the support and discussion on the decision to place a bid.
Additionally it was made easier without any competitive bidding.

Thank you all,

Ive been corresponding with a gent from Canada on RCA under Double Actions. He is a new guy as I am. He asked if anyone had information on RCMP's and I shared the RENE information with him. We have been discussing RCMP's and in turn he has supplied some additional insightful information with me. I asked if I could share some of his posts and had no problem as long as I credited him by his username below.
"Pwf from RCA"

Thanks, Gene.
I have been doing some internet searching and, with with the help of fellow owners and now with the inclusion of your gun, I believe I can now identify all 15 of the overrun revolvers.

A September, 1984 memo from GULF STATES Distributors of Montgomery Alabama, lists the following 10 revolvers available for sale (at $190 each!). I have listed these in numerical sequence:

160-98363
160-98826
161-00029
161-00031
161-00032
161-00033
161-00034
161-00035
161-00330
161-97988

In addition, I have been able to identify the following off the internet, often with the help of current owners:

160-94833 As of 2017, in Northern California
160-94838 As of 2017, in Ohio - this gun went to Canada and later returned to the US
161-00030 As of 2010, in Vermont
161-18440 As of 2017, in Illinois
162-19054 As of 2017, in Canada

Apparently, two of the stainless (GR-85H) have been identified:

157-21052 Before 1994, Yazoo City, Mississippi
157-21051 As of 2012, in Vermont

Most of the above information is taken from internet posts and personal messages. The guns identified in 2017 are current as of now, but the earlier guns may have changed hands since the original postings. I own the one in Canada, it must of sat in a safe for over thirty years as it presents as new and unfired.

Hope this is of interest,

Pwf

I bought two consecutive serial numbered SDA-85H in October 1998 from a dealer in Nashville, TN. He had purchased 5 of them for resale. I sold the two I bought to a friend some years ago and he recently sold them to another friend of mine. Still NIB. Attaching a copy of the invoice. Different numbers than the list above.

Incredible Bill,,,
Thank you very much for sharing your information.
Please pass to your friends, friend, who is also your friend  you know a friend who would be interested in a RCMP .38 in a box, or even a consecutive pair heck.

Again the bill of sale is greatly appreciated.

While I have your ear, I have a question on memorabilia. I have Ruger ashtrays with clear white center and one with the yellow center. Is it because one was released as a gift for Ruger employees and the other was available for purchase from Ruger merchandise?

I do not know about your clear ash tray. All I have seen have the yellow decal in the center or a raised S&R. You may have a rare one that they failed to put the decal in just like not roll marking a barrel!! :o
Cirrhitidae is the memorabilia expert so maybe he will see this thread and chime in.

Hi Gene,

I was fortunate enough to add the consecutive SDA 85’s to my collection...I feel very privileged to have them. There is some really great information in this thread and I always enjoy talking Ruger iron. Let’s find a good time to catch-up.

Best,

Thank you for posting Terry that is great piece of history. The Gent I was conversing with at RCA has dropped off, I invited him to join us here at ROCS.

We will Michael, we seem to have our fingers on the same items.

Best regards, Gene
