My first Mini 14

Post by hittman »

Recently picked up my first ever Mini 14. It’s a stainless 182 prefix with wood stock including wood upper hand guard and a period correct stainless folder too. Four Ruger brand 20 round mags were included.

I’ve splurged on a RUGER factory letter to see if it was delivered from the mother ship with the folder. Either way, the folder should be good property to have.

First range trip showed it cycled 100 rounds with no hiccups at all. Just like with the M1 Carbine, makes me wonder why I didn’t buy one of these many years ago!

I believe you will enjoy your Mini, great rifles. I have had one for years and it has never failed to function.

The Mini14 is great. I have had several thru the years and 2 currently. Your folder sounds interesting. Love to see what it looks like.

Congrats on your new Mini 14. Have you been enjoying it? What did the letter from Ruger end up saying?

My first mini was a 181- series, blued. Was a pretty accurate rifle, although it always seemed to throw the 4-5 shot off 5 to 6” @ 100yds when the barrel warmed up. Of course I was using milspec Q3131 in those days. That was many moons ago and wish I had kept it. Now that the Ruger bug has bit again, which seems to be about every 8-9 years or so, I’m looking to get another.

I know this an old thread, just trying to liven things up a little.
