Ruger Hawkeye (original) carbine?

Post by gunman42782 »

Lifted this pic from Facebook. Fella says it's from the Ruger collection at the factory. Never even heard of it, what do you think?

I do believe that Bill Ruger had one made. I don't remember when but it was kept at the factory. I think the serial number was 69? I will have to refer to by books to be sure.

In John Dougan's book "Ruger Pistols & Revolvers The Vintage Years" on page 246 you will find it. It was chambered in 221 Remington Fireball.

Interesting Hawkeye. What does the rollmark on the barrel say?

It was exhibited in the RCA display at NRA in Indianapolis in 1976. I was there! 42 years ago; dang, that makes me feel old!!
