I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how or if its worthwhile or even possible to get a Ruger No.1-H or 1-S from 1969 or 1970.

I have picked up both a 1H and a 1S 130 prefix 1970 version off Gun Broker. I have not yet seen either model in non prefix. I know that collectors on this site have them in non prefix. As for the worthwhile, absolutely! As for asking "how" you just have to do like the rest of us..watch the various auction sites and if and when you find one, bid like crazy...

This one has early checker pattern, lever pin without slot on right side but looks like the wood might have been salty causing some corrosion. Has a 22 inch barrel so probably a 1-S

I guess it was made in 1970. I was wondering if this was one of the <25 mentioned in http://www.classicsportingarms.com/ruge ... ty-tables/

For me to get it to Canada would cost about $3200 CDN. Then the fix up. Seams a little expensive. I just got a non prefix 1-BBS in 243 with incredible wood and perfect metal for $2250 CND. So is it really worth a thousand dollars cdn more than the 243 I just got.

There are a few 1S in .45-70 out there with a non-prefix, but they are rare. I believe also all made after the forearm checkering was changed to two-panel instead of wraparound.
A 1H non-prefix in .45-70 is super rare! Have only heard of 1.

Mine is #130-00138 with dark wood and 22" bbl. AH forearm, open sights and hinge screw slotted only on the left side, 2 panel checkering on the forearm. It does not show any other marks. Shipped in 1970. Brass Frame/Lee E
