Chief AJ Record Breaker 10/22 and Mag Cover

Post by Striken7 »

Hi everyone,

My father passed away last month and he had what I believe to be the most collectible Chief AJ memorabilia available. Your feedback and estimated value for each itemw would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for only providing links. I tried to post images, but the [img] coding would not work for whatever reason. Maybe it's because I'm a "rookie"?

I don't currently have pictures, but I also have an autographed wood block used as part of the World Record shoot along with a case of ammo with Chief AJ's signature on every box. Anyway, I would appreciate what anyone has to say about the above rifles.

Thank you

Striken7,

Welcome to the forum.
There are some Chief AJ collectors here & several of us own WR guns and many other of the Chief's guns and collectables.
The Chief is another branch of the Ruger/Gun collecting community that has it's own following.
We even claim the Chief's personal official biographer here. :)
I would encourage you to read throught the entire Chief AJ thread as there is a lot of interesting things
to learn there, at least there was for me.
If you are just looking for value of your guns, most have brought $400- $600 in the last year or so.
I am sure others will respond to your posting.
Cheers,
JAY
I do not "own" these guns, I am but the next caretaker

Welcome and thanks for sharing information on these rifles. THere are some of us who collect Chief items but the market is limited. I am working on another WR gun for around and the market is in the $550 to $600 range from what I have run across. The one that broke the WR will bring a higher price of the two. Yours have the required documents to support them. I am interested in them so if you could call me @ 419-233-8402 we can talk about them. It would really be nice to see them go to a collector who will display them at shows around the country for more people to enjoy them!

I'm very sorry to hear about your father passing and can't imagine what you've been going through. I would hate to guess as to who he was but have an idea based on the rifles shown and my knowledge of the story. They are beautiful and certainly will generate some interest among us! In fact, I think the 3 AJ collectors including myself have now responded. I don't wish to step on Charlies toes though as he sort of beat me to the punch.

My next two planned displays will be all Chief AJ and I am also interested in speaking with you. Down the road, I hope to do a second Chief AJ book and even if you keep the rifles, I would greatly appreciate some more photos and a permission for their use! New "old" items keep popping up and are unfortunately too late to make it in the first edition of his biography. I would like to chat more about your story, your father, and anything you can show and tell me regarding Chief AJ. We speak daily and I can easily bounce info off of him if you are still left with unanswered questions. You have a PM with my contact info.

I met the Chief today while he was visiting family in the Dallas area and this was the first time he held his record setting Ruger in 31 years.

This is cool seeing the Chief holding his world record making 10/22 in such a long time. I am still interested if you want to call me.
