Ruger Hood Ornament

Post by Rugerologist »

I have been busy and slacking on my posting but tonight I had some time.

So, I obtained this Ruger Hood Ornament from a long time collector last year. When I displayed in Tulsa, it was one of the few items that multiple people tried to purchase from my display. It was made by Richcraft which also made some Ruger belt buckles that many of you have in collections. It is stainless steel and measures 1.5" W X 2.5" H. It is the only one that I have ever seen.

Gene,
No Silver hawk here.....
Watertender only offered the HUBCAP of the Studebaker in exchange for my 3 digit Single Six, and never came through even with that!!
Not even a can of beans....

There are a LOT of very cool, unique things posted on this forum, but Chuck I think this is the best so far! WOW.
I think only two prototype cars were made, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Can not be many, if any of these in existence.

Cheers,
JAY

Jay, I really appreciate that but might be too much credit! I believe that Richcraft did these sort of as a nod to Bill and his automobile interests. It is a deviation from their traditional belt buckles. It may not be that rare but I have never seen another even discussed and I hope that someone here can give me more info on it.

Very nice piece of memorabilia!
They made a ton of buckles, but your hood ornament is the only one I have ever seen or heard of.
Maybe one of the West or East coast Big Dog memorabilia collectors will chime in.

Nice piece for sure, thanks for sharing.

May be rarer than you think Cirrhitidae, I have seen and had several of their buckles but I have never seen or heard of a hood ornament. Excellent addition to your outstanding collection.
